This fun rocket looks like a wooden pencil. The Sky Writer comes with colored body tubes, fins and nose cone, so assembly is quick and easy. Specifications Length 26 in. Diameter 0.98 in. Weight 1.5 oz. Parachute Recovery One piece plastic molded Fins Max. Altitude 1100 ft. Estes model rockets range from "ready-to-fly" in just minutes, to kits that provide many enjoyable hours of building fun. Estes kits are classified into five categories. READY TO FLY (RTF) No paint, glue or modeling skills required. Rocket comes assembled and is ready for liftoff in just minutes. E2X No paint or special tools needed. E2X kits contain parts that are colored and easy to assemble. Simply glue the parts together as per the instructions, apply the self-adhesive decals, attach the recovery system and you are ready to blast off! Assembly takes 1 hour or less. SKILL LEVEL 1 Requires some painting, gluing and sanding. Features laser-cut balsa fins, slotted body tubes, plastic nose cones and self-adhesive decals. Step by step instructions make building very easy. Assembly takes at least an afternoon. SKILL LEVEL 2 First tier of more advanced kits. Requires beginner skills in model rocket construction and finishing. Features laser-cut balsa or plastic fins, plastic nose cones and unfinished body tubes. Assembly may take a complete day. SKILL LEVEL 3 Second tier of more advanced kits. Requires moderate skills in model rocket construction and finishing. Features multiple laser-cut balsa fins and parts, unfinished body tubes, complex designs and plastic nose cones. Assembly may take a couple of days.

Pleasing Design Mar 18, 2007 By kone "kone"
My son has this rocket. It was simple to assemble and easy to fly. Its aerodymanic design allows it to fly quite high with a C6-5 engine. You may need binoculars to follow it, as it will go quite to the limits of your vision. Since it is capable of high flight, you need a large field to launch it in. For a smaller launch field, use a B engine. It won't go as high, but you won't have the rocket end up in a tree limb, or drifting out of sight.

My son loves the unique design of this rocket. It looks "cool". We have launched it several times successfully. One time we faliled to pack the wadding in correctly and the parachute was burned. (The rocket survived the hard impact however).

This is a good starter rocket for a beginner in model rocketry.

My 6 year old loved this rocket. It flew very high and was simple to complete with him. It flew so high that it drifted a little too far and we lost it. We order this one and the stormcaster (review soon).

My son put this rocket together for his 4-H project. It is a very nice rocket, the only complaint that we have is that the plastic piece that attaches to the rocket to guide it on the rod of the launch pad fell off before the first launch. Had to use clear packing tape to secure it. The rocket could actually use 2 of these plastic pieces, I think that it puts too much pressure on the one due to the length of the rocket. The judge really liked it, stated she had never seen one like it. It held up well and worked well.

is not the but it will do.The shock cord is a litte short.This is great rocket from estes great for every day flying!!!

While I'm not a fan of the SkyWriter, I do applaud Estes for reissuing the nose cone for this rocket. If the SkyWriter isn't to your liking, this rocket is a great starting point to "clone" any number of discontinued Estes classics, the Satellite Interceptor, Stiletto, and the Black Brant III to name a few. Thank you, Estes. Now how about reissuing some of your other discontinued cones.
