Tons of Fun Jan 03, 2012

I really loved making this model. The B-52 is huge, one of the largest models I've ever made. Building it is a great blend of difficulty and fun. It's detailed enough, but the sheer size makes painting and gluing challenging. All the pieces fit together well and you end up with a great looking model in the end.
The X-15 is the icing on the cake. Even though it isn't the focus of the kit by any means, it still has as many construction steps as some of the other scale models I've built.
There was only one problem I had with the kit: there wasn't enough black walkway on the decal sheet for the entire model. I got about 2/3 of the way through before I ran out. Unfortunately I didn't notice this sooner but the problem is easily solved by some aggressive shading. I don't know if the problem was with the specific kit I got or the product in general, but overall, It doesn't hurt the model as much as if some of the more unique or vibrant decals were omitted. And as I mentioned, a little work with a fine tipped brush, some black paint and some masking tape will solve the problem. I really enjoyed making this model and would recommend it, but since the decal sheet was incomplete I can't give it 5 stars.
