4Things they don't say online  May 06, 2012 By Saloka
I looked online to find the average life of one can but found nothing so here are my findings. I bought this as a quick solution while I save up for a compressor for use in my Badger Velocity Jet for 40k models. One can lasted me through learning how to use my new aforementioned airbrush, placing base coats on two Lemun Russ Tanks, and detailing one Lemun Russ - about 3.5 hours actual spraying in total over a period of three days. Buying a can was a good choice to start with while saving up for a decent compressor and I'll definitely keep one around for its mobility. Overall I was impressed with its performance for $6.

On the down-side the can needs constant adjustment. Spraying for a few minutes lowers the internal pressure and must have the 3B adapter adjusted to compensate thus constant changes in pressure made fine detail work difficult. Don't expect a constant psi level. The can itself freezes after about an hour of heavy use. I've heard of people placing these in bowls of warm water to avoid this as the pressure drops even more and the paint "could" freeze (never had a problem when my can was frosty). I just set it aside until it warms back up to avoid any freezing of the paint.

Bottom line: Good low-cost solution for a compressor initially but don't go buying more than 3 or 4. The constant changes in pressure (dropping from use, increasing for loosening 3B, etc.) make it hard for detail but I'm keeping one around simply because of its high mobility and base coating needs little detail work anyway.

3Works ok for small projects  Feb 18, 2011 By Joseph
I purchased this to use with an airbrush to apply duracoat to a rifle. It down work well but only for very small projects. If you were going to use this as a one time deal it works great but if you plan on using your air brush a lot spend the money and buy a little compressor. The money I spend on these cans to finish my rifle I could have just bought a compressor and had the project done in one shot. Of course I was using it to apply a coating to a rifle which is a time intensive task so using it for a little model should be fine.
