Necessary Add On Jan 07, 2011

This is a necessary add-on for any new driver of a Stampede Monster Truck RTR w/XL-5 w/Battery Charger. My 9 year old received this truck and bumper for Christmas after I read several reviews on the truck mentioning purchasing addional pieces, this being one of them, to help make the truck more durable and less prone to destruction with a new RC driver...and I would have to agree! Really fun toy!!

I have 2 of these bumpers on the front of a pair of Traxxas Bandits. It is simple to read how others say they are durable and they do come with a lifetime breakage guaranty but here's my story. A friend of mine was driving my Bandit VXL in a large parking lot last week and drove right into a cement base for a light pole going around 45mph. 5 original components broke or bent but not the RPM bumber, which I'm sure helped reduce the impact somewhat because it helps protect some of the front suspension unlike the original. One of the replacement parts is a new RPM front shock tower, and if it's as good as the bumper, it will be the last one I'll have to buy. RPM products are only slightly more expensive than the originals and way less than aluminum, and come with a great warranty. Some of these parts take considerable time and patience to replace but are worth it when you have to replace broken parts anyway.

It's well known that RPM makes very durable plastic parts. This bumper is the prime example of this.
Upon the recommendation of the online RC community, this was one of the first things I got for my Rustler. Believe me, it's saved me a lot of grief. I've had tons of nose-first landings onto concrete while learning to jump, and nothing has broken. Once, I ran into a raised curb at full speed (not kidding) while using this thing. The car came to a dead stop, but *nothing* broke. Surely something would have if the puny little TRX bumper was on there.
Definitely the best under $10 upgrade for your car. Get it. Now.

Helps tremendously compared to the stock bumper. I had the blue version of this, and I had it for many months of crazy driving with no problems
